Finally.
I don’t know about you, but we are HUGE Game of Thrones fans. We are huge fans of most television shows that are hits, ha, but this one takes priority. Funny story, I actually told my mom (who recently moved to Denver) we can’t commit to Sunday night dinners because we have a priority. Don’t worry, she fully understood and agreed to plan for another night, but I had to make sure well ahead of time it was known. That being said, Game of Throne Sundays have become our sacred time. We always have our friends over, cook dinner (or order in Chinese food – shout out to Sweet Ginger!), drink wine and watch the greatness unfold. The viewing usually starts around 4pm, just to prep (and have more time with our friends). Prep usually entails drinking lots of wine, munching on snacks and watching other random shows. That being said, as we prepare, a year in the making, for Sundays premier I wanted to show you all a simple and easy set up for those of you hosting Game of Thrones night!

As you all know I am an advocate for a cheese and charcuterie board. It’s such an easy and simple way to provide an appetizer. Let alone, with enough treats it can be enough for dinner! I thought it would be fun to put together a cheese board map of Westeros for this Game of Thrones watching party! The fixings on the board in total was about $70 and should be able to feed about 4-6. Paired with Game of Thrones wine, this is all you need to host a simple viewing party! (You can also click this link and download printable wine labels!)

The basis behind such a simple set up was that I wanted it to be able to be easily transferred to a coffee table so your guests can munch while watching. I came across so many other fun ideas for a Game of Thrones themed party here if you want to get a little more elaborate!

Set mood lighting with an assortment of black candles. You can easily set them out around your cheese board on your coffee table. The more the better to create an eerie mood, but safety first! I also love this replica of the iron throne, it would make such a fun addition to have out as decor.

Last but not least, creating your board! Below is also an image of the map I followed. If you aren’t familiar with the houses and where they are located use this website are reference. (Disclaimer: I am pretty sure I am off on something and definitely do not think I am a Game of Thrones expert!). It was fun building a charcuterie board vertical since the map of Westeros was that way! You can get super creative with the different cheese, meats and accouterments to go along with each location. For instance, the wall is an arrangement of salami :), for “Dragonstone” I shaped Boursin into a dragon egg and added sliced almonds as the scales. “Riverrun” is filled with smoked gouda in reference to the “siege of riverrun” (all the smoke from the campgrounds!). The south is the “fancier” items on the board, cornichons for “Highgarden”, an aged cheese for “Old Town”, Figs for the “Lannisters”, a more expensive cheese for “Kings Landing” (where I placed the “Targaryens” #biasedopinion)! Basically, have fun with it! The flags are literally just printed out and taped onto toothpicks, LOL. So simple. Here is the link to the image I pulled if you want to do the same. All in all, not including booze, this party was about $100. No reason to go SO over the top all the time! Enjoy and happy watching!
