Inspiration for Every Occasion

Sending Off Gus Kenworthy

February 5, 2018 · In: Parties

One of my all time favorite parties I have thrown.

As many of you know my best friend, Gus Kenworthy, is headed to the Winter Olympics this month to compete in Freestyle skiing for Slopestyle. We could not be prouder of him and more excited to watch our friend compete in the winter games! It’s such a surreal experience! In order to properly send him off to the Olympics, I threw him a fun little winter games themed party! I have to give credit to my sweet husband who came up with the mountain display idea. Which turned out SO cute! Before I fully dive into all the details to inspire you for your opening ceremonies viewing party, I wanted to give ya’ll a little early glimpse into the party!

Along with “winter”themed, I also did a play on Korean styled food and cocktails! (The recipes will be on the blog later this week!) For something sweet we had adorable olympic themed cupcakes and brownies from Yours Truly Cupcake! Additionally we had Wheelhouse canned cocktails which were an absolute hit!

Everything was set up on Gus’s dining room table on top of a white table cloth to create a “snow” effect. To build the mountain I found a few different sized boxes placed them close together on the table. On top of the tallest box I placed a bird house to create a mountain peak! Then, I added a white table cloth overtop all of the boxes to coat them in “snow”. I tapped little skiers to the front of the mountain face and place little pine trees around. This is such a simple and fun decor option for the winter games!

Don’t miss Gus in the Olympics! Tune in Sunday, February 18th!
